National Grief Awareness Week 2023, 2-8 December

Running from 2-8 December 2023, National Grief Awareness Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of the impact of grief and bereavement.

Various organisations and charities in the UK, such as Cruse Bereavement Care and the Good Grief Trust, actively work this week to raise awareness about grief, offer support to those who are grieving, and promote understanding of the impact of loss.

Grief is a natural and complex emotional response to loss.  It is crucial to recognise that there is no “normal” timeline for grieving, and people may continue to feel the effects of grief long after the initial loss. Seeking support from friends, family, or mental health professionals can be beneficial during the grieving process. Additionally, self-compassion and patience are essential as individuals navigate their unique journey through grief.
