Independent Funeral Standards and Our NAFD Membership
Harrison Funeral Home has a long and established history as a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD). Our membership reflects our ongoing commitment to professional excellence, ethical practice, and the highest standards of care for the families we serve.
Independent Funeral Standards Organisation (IFSO)
The Independent Funeral Standards Organisation (IFSO) was created to provide independent inspection and oversight of funeral homes on behalf of professional bodies, including the NAFD. Its inspectors have played an important role in setting, monitoring, and maintaining robust professional standards across the funeral profession.
On Tuesday 1 October 2024, the four IFSO inspectors returned to employment within the NAFD Inspectorate. While this represented an organisational change, the inspection remit, standards, and expectations remained unchanged. Funeral homes continue to be inspected against the same professional criteria, ensuring consistency, transparency, and accountability.
What This Means for Harrison Funeral Home
As a longstanding NAFD member, Harrison Funeral Home continues to be subject to regular inspection and professional oversight under the NAFD’s established inspection framework. Families can be assured that:
Our practices are independently inspected and assessed
We adhere to the NAFD’s Code of Practice and professional standards
The quality and rigor of inspections remain unchanged following the 2024 transition
Our membership and inspection history demonstrate our commitment to maintaining the highest levels of care, dignity, and professionalism at all times.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Whether through the historic role of IFSO or the current NAFD Inspectorate, independent standards and accountability remain central to how Harrison Funeral Home operates. We remain fully committed to continuous improvement and to upholding the trust placed in us by the families we serve.
