Dying Matters Week 2025: Opening Up Conversations About Death and Dying

This week, Harrison Funeral Home is proud to support Dying Matters Awareness Week 2025, taking place from 5th to 11th May. This year’s theme, “The Culture of Dying Matters,” invites us all to explore how different communities, cultures, and faiths across the UK experience, talk about, and cope with death and dying.

While each person’s experience of loss is unique, grief is a universal emotion. Studies have shown that, regardless of background, age, or belief, the human experience of death and bereavement connects us all — even if we express and process it in different ways.

At Harrison Funeral Home, we recognise the importance of respecting diverse traditions and practices around death. We’re here to listen, learn, and support every family with care and compassion that reflects their needs and values.

This week is about breaking down taboos, encouraging open conversations, and recognising the cultural richness that shapes how we live and how we say goodbye.

We encourage you to join the conversation and learn more about how “the culture of dying matters.”
